SUMMER EMPLOYMENT AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
For students majoring or interested in performing arts, theatre, music and dance, communication arts, arts eduction and arts management, Friends of the Arts (FOTA) offers unique annual opportunities for employment and internships.
You'll work with world-class artists and top professionals in the field of
concert operations, sound & lighting and ticket sales.
Positions are usually available in the following areas:
Operations Assistant:
Work with Associate Executive Director in management of all production activities; supervision of production & technical crews; coordinate volunteer assignments & activities. Must be organized, have "take charge" attitude, proven leadership skills, and enjoy working with people of all ages. Must be a highly motivated, responsible individual. Employment runs from mid-May through early September. Full-time schedule, including weekend concerts; hourly wage. College graduate or upper-classman preferred. Computer experience required. Long Island resident preferred. Must provide own transportation and housing.
Production Crew:
Assist in venue set-up, Front-of-House operations & maintenance; show load-in and load out; merchandise & inventory control. Must be available all day and evenings (generally Fridays and Saturdays) for weekend concert dates. Must be responsible, energetic, motivated. Part-time position late June through early September. Weekends a must, hourly wage. Must be 18 years old or 17 with letter from parent/guardian. Great job for college underclassman, high school graduate, or upperclassman. Long Island resident preferred. Must provide own transportation and housing.
Technical Crew:
Load-in and set-up of sound, lights, backline and stage elements; running crew & follow-spot operators. Basic stagecraft & technical experience required. Running crew & follow-spot operators. Must be available all day and evenings (generally Fridays and Saturdays) for weekend concert dates. Must be responsible, energetic, motivated. Part-time position late June through early September. Box Office:
Assist in all Box Office operations, including customer relations, ticket sales, phone sales, data entry. Box Office Assistants take and process ticket orders and offer customer service. Excellent phone skills are essential. Job requires highly motivated, responsible individuals. Employment runs from May through August. Full-time schedule, including weekend concerts; hours may vary, hourly wage. College graduate or upper-classmen preferred. Computer experience (Windows Office, database entry) and cash handling experience required. Must be 18 or older. Long Island residents preferred. Must provide own transportation and housing.
